What to expect
The story follows siblings Chelle and Lank as they run a basement after-hours joint in 1967 Detroit. Music by the Four Tops and The Temptations fills the room while the jokes keep coming. Then a mysterious stranger arrives and the streets erupt outside, pushing the community toward its breaking point. The play won the Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama and is written by Dominique Morisseau, who also wrote Confederates.
