What to expect

Dominique Morisseau's drama follows siblings Chelle and Lank as they run a basement after-hours joint in 1967 Detroit. The Four Tops and The Temptations play on the turntable while jokes fly and the party keeps going. Then a mysterious stranger arrives and the streets erupt outside, cracking open buried tensions and hard truths. The music-infused story blends humor, heart and history, and it won the Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama.
