What to expect
The film is followed by a discussion. It is the debut of Guatemalan filmmaker Jayro Bustamante and follows daily life among Kaqchikel-speaking Mayans on a coffee plantation at the base of an active volcano, mixing fact and fable with their customs and beliefs. It is one of seven films in the 2026 Hispanic Film Festival, which includes titles from Spain, Panama-Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Mexico and Guatemala. The festival's themes center on power structures, creativity and technological innovation.
