What to expect
Connie Martin shares family stories passed down from her great-grandmother, Lizzie, about surviving the antebellum period and using quilts with hidden codes to help guide enslaved people to freedom in Canada. She shows eighteen quilt patterns in replica quilts, covers safe routes and key abolitionists, and refers to Lizzie's Story, the family book her mother, Dr. Clarice Boswell, wrote.
