What to expect
Chris Vallillo pairs eleven historic songs sung by the enslaved with rare first-person accounts of freedom-seekers who passed through Illinois, including John and Mary Little, who walked 140 miles to Chicago, and George Burroughs, who helped smuggle escapees on the Illinois Central Railroad. The program was developed by Looking for Lincoln to accompany its exhibit. Vallillo's earlier Abraham Lincoln in Song reached number ten on Billboard's bluegrass album chart.
