What to expect

Eleanor Burgess's play is set at a prestigious Northeastern university, where a routine meeting between Zoe, a Black scholar, and Janine, her tenured history professor, turns into an intellectual battle. Zoe argues the American Revolution would not have succeeded without slavery; critiques of grammar spiral into fights over historical accuracy, erasure, professional ethics and who sets the standard for truth. Soul Siren Playhouse stages it.
