What to expect
A screening of Robert Bresson's 95-minute film following Balthazar, a donkey passed from owner to owner, some kind and some cruel. His life parallels that of Marie, played by Anne Wiazemsky in her film debut. Bresson's unconventional use of composition, sound and narrative turns the simple story into a parable about purity and transcendence.
