What to expect
The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra performs Shostakovich's Eighth Symphony, a work the composer called a wartime requiem that moves between the brutality of war and a spark of humanity. The St. Louis Symphony Chorus adds psalm settings by Felix Mendelssohn and Igor Stravinsky in the first performance of its 50th anniversary season.
