What to expect
Expect bedcoverings from the museum's own collection, made in the early to mid-1800s during the height of American neoclassicism. The quilts and coverlets are shown with ceramics, printed fabrics and other needlework, so you can compare the craft across objects. The display also looks at the transatlantic cotton trade and its ties to American plantation slavery. The show is monochromatic, so the detail in the stitching does most of the work.
